Traditionally, the Annual Campaign is an opportunity for local businesses, YMCA staff, members, and residents of the region to assist families and individuals in their community to pursue life-enriching programs through subsidized costs at the “Y.”      In 2018, the “Y” was fortunate to grant an approximate of $60,000 back into the community. Broadcast News Story: Photograph provided by Moriah Schau Broadcast: “Unplanned” was released in movie theaters across the nation on March 29, 2019. The film follows the true-story of Abby Johnson who worked as a Clinic Director for Planned Parenthood prior to converting to a pro-life stance. The film received an R rating, yet there is controversy regarding whether critics properly judged this production. Fox News reporter Lauren Green comments: It seems pretty odd that a movie with no foul language… no violence, no naked bodies, no wild shootings… would get a rating equal to movies like “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Die Hard.” The irony of rating a movie like this R, is that while it advises that children under 17 shouldn't see this movie without an accompanying adult, it fails to recognize that in at least 13 U.S. states, a teen under 17 can get an abortion without their parents' permission, (Fox News, 2019). Travel Story: Photograph provided by Regent Online Media Assets Virginia Beach, Virginia is one of seven cities that define the Hampton Roads Community on the east coast. The other six cities are the following: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton, and Suffolk (Welcome Guide, 2012). The demographics of the Virginia Beach region are diverse according to Michaela Hooper's insight with World Population View. "...It is composed of 67.7% Caucasians, nearly 20% African American, 6% Asian, and 6.6% Hispanic or Latino. Live Event:       Photographs by Michelle Gallagher Live Event Coverage by Mackenzie McElfresh Report:      Illinois native Michelle Gallagher recently started her photography business, Chelle’s Illustrations, with a vision inspiring and involving an entire region.  On March 30, 2019, Gallagher expanded her portfolio and business connections with marketing local companies and organizations through a mock wedding. The driving force of this event was to demonstrate that a top-notch wedding experience could exist in the rural Freeport community. She contacted a bridal model, a bridal boutique, a hair and makeup artist, a jewelry store for wedding rings, a venue, a baker, a florist, a decorator, and had invitations designed as if the wedding was legitimate.       The video footage features Gallagher maximizing her time in the venue by capturing photographs at different angles with complimentary lighting from a nearby window.
