“Unplanned” was released in movie theaters across the nation on March 29, 2019. The film follows the true-story of Abby Johnson who worked as a Clinic Director for Planned Parenthood prior to converting to a pro-life stance. The film received an R rating, yet there is controversy regarding whether critics properly judged this production.
Fox News reporter Lauren Green comments:
It seems pretty odd that a movie with no foul language… no violence, no naked bodies, no wild shootings… would get a rating equal to movies like “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Die Hard.” The irony of rating a movie like this R, is that while it advises that children under 17 shouldn't see this movie without an accompanying adult, it fails to recognize that in at least 13 U.S. states, a teen under 17 can get an abortion without their parents' permission, (Fox News, 2019).
Johnson now works in rebuttal to Planned Parenthood by revealing the factual evidence of what occurs behind the doors of this pro-choice organization. Johnson directs a new non-profit called “And Then There Were None” which advocates for Planned Parenthood workers to have security and guidance to transition out of the abortion industry.
Abby Johnson confidently shares:
You won’t be able to unsee what I saw if you go see the movie, which I implore you to do (Fox News, 2019).
Questions are prompted as to what constitutes as freedom of speech given the actions taken by social media platforms.
According to the Christian Broadcasting Network:
The Pure Flix filmmaker was on Capitol Hill to speak on a panel regarding Twitter’s alleged censorship of “Unplanned.” On its opening weekend in late March, the social media platform temporarily suspended the film’s promotional account (Christian Broadcasting Network, 2019).
Johnson continues to impact lives, born and unborn, through her non-profit as well as sharing information from 40 Days for Life. Check your local movie theatre for listings and pricing details.
